Developing Strategies for Reaching the Millennium Development Goals Two Sessions:
June 21-30, 2006UN, UNIS, New York, NYand July 19-28University of North Carolina, Asheville, NC
The second Design Science Lab (http://www.designsciencelab.org) will take place at the United Nations and the UN International School in New York from June 21 to June 30. Another session will take place July 19-28 at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, NC.  After briefings at the UN on the MDGs, their origins, importance, measurement, what has been done so far, youth will learn a powerful planning and problem solving methodology that they will apply to the development of solutions to major world problems. The report from last year's Design Science Lab, which focused on developing strategies for eliminating hunger and poverty, can be downloaded for free at http://www.bigpicturesmallworld.com/schools/images/2005DSLReport_complete.pdf A short movie on the global food and hunger situation, based on/inspired by work of students at the Design Science Lab can be seen at:http://www.bigpicturesmallworld.com/movies/hunger/hunger1.html For further details and registration, go to http://www.designsciencelab.org  Purpose of the Design Science Lab: The purpose of Design Science Lab is to harness the intelligence, creativity, initiative, and energy of youth in the development of sustainable solutions to the world's most serious problems. Who Are Encouraged to Attend: Participants who meet the following are encouraged to attend:- ages 16-28
- ability to thrive in an intense, collaborative working environment
- participants from all over the world are welcome to the event
