Call for regional cooperation in the West Balkans Area
CALL FOR COOPERATION: “Creating cross border economic opportunities in the West Balkans Area”
The University of Tirana SIFE Team is glad to invite all interested organizations, associations and institutions to submit their proposals on a regional cooperation project focusing on “Creating cross border economic opportunities in the West Balkans area”.
Who we are?
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a global non-profit organization active in more than 1.800 university campuses in 42 countries and territories. SIFE is funded by financial contributions from corporations, entrepreneurs, foundations, government agencies and individuals. Working in partnership with businesses and higher education institutions, SIFE establishes student teams on university campuses. These teams are lead by faculty advisers and challenged to develop community outreach projects that teach SIFE’s four educational topics:
SIFE Team members leverage their personal educational experiences, the expertise of their faculty advisors, the support of their local business advisory boards and the resources of their institutions to implement programs that create real economic opportunities for the members of their communities.
Our mission is to help people achieve their dreams through free enterprise education, through learning by doing.
The University of Tirana SIFE Team was established in 1996 at the Faculty of Economics. We’re proud we’re working with the best students our faculty might have. In their role as teachers and leaders, the Tirana University SIFE Team practice the highest integrity and ethical behavior in all fields.
Project description
The initiative will focus on creating economic opportunity for local communities living in cross border areas between Albania and its neighbors, putting special emphasis on areas neighboring with Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia through involving people in real-life business situations, instilling in them the basic skills necessary to achieve sustainable economic success through conducting cross border business. This general mission has to be supported by several more specific objectives.
Project goals include:
ü Creating job opportunities in the formal sector in the region through innovative ideas that stimulate cross border cooperation ü Identifying market needs in the region, and providing business strategies and supportive operational plans that creatively involve local communities from both sides of the border in both the planning and implementation stages ü Assisting existing local businesses to profitably extend their activity across borders through teaching them the basic management skills necessary to increase the value they provide to customers, employees and other stakeholders on the other side of the border, through putting special emphasis on understanding cultural differences between communities and adapting appropriate marketing strategies ü Explaining local communities the advantages of international trade and business through assisting them in real-life situations, illustrating how cross border exchanges help generate extra profits for both parties, as opposed to protectionist and traditional business practices
We welcome any proposals that meet one or more of the above mentioned criteria, as well as other innovative ideas that contribute to the fulfillment of the general mission of the project. There are no specific requirements on the project proposal format. Simply send us your ideas, specifying how the project you propose will help fulfill the general mission through addressing the concrete economic problem you have identified. A simple project outline, including objectives and an action plan would help us better understand your idea.
We expect proposals from:
Any inputs from regional organizations, public agencies, businesses, or individuals from Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and the West Balkans area in general, sharing our vision on the economic future of our countries, cross border cooperation, and entrepreneurship are welcome. We also expect feedback from any stakeholders that are willing and able to contribute financially to the initiative. The University of Tirana SIFE Team have a strong commitment to work together with dynamic and like-minded activists throughout the region to enhance the life of communities living on both sides of borders. We are keen to exchange ideas with you and strive to turn opportunities into tangible and sustainable economic benefits for all the people in the region.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The University of Tirana SIFE Team does not provide its own financial support for the project implementation. We are looking for partners from neighboring countries willing to work together on a specific draft that will serve as a project proposal to apply for funding opportunities. Voluntary contributions are welcome. Please do not reply to this message. You can contact us through our email address by composing a new message and sending it to:
