Welcome to the Newsletter issued by the SALTO-YOUTH Resource Centre for Eastern Europe and Caucasus in cooperation with the youthNET/CIS project.
In this Newsletter you can find information about activities aimed at development of the non-formal education and youth cooperation between Programme and Eastern European and Caucasian countries within European Union YOUTH programme

1. INFORMATION on both SALTO EECA and youthNET


1.1 SALTO EECA RC

The SALTO EECA provides mainly information and support for both YOUTH programme Beneficiaries and National Agencies.
In addition, the SALTO EECA organises advanced training courses and partnership building activities. Training courses offered by the SALTO EECA are specifically focused on the development of the YOUTH programme Actions.

1.2 youthNET/ CIS project

The youthNET project is focused on partnership building between organisations from Programme countries and Eastern European countries as well as disseminating information on and knowledge about the YOUTH programme in Eastern European countries. These aims will be implemented mainly through theme-focused contact making activities, information days, and dissemination of information materials.

2. Latest developments in the SALTO EECA and the youthNET work

SALTO EECA RC

  • 2.1 Staff Workshop for NAs and Evaluation of cooperation with EECA Region, within the YOUTH programme, 29th September - 2nd October 2005.

The main purpose of the workshop was to share information and experiences on cooperation with the Eastern Europe and Caucasus Region. This event gathered 17 officers of NAs responsible for International Cooperation with Eastern Europe and Caucasus and 19 Beneficiaries from Eastern Europe and Programme Countries, experienced in projects implemented in cooperation between Programme Countries and EECA countries.
Participants made also evaluation of SALTO EECA activities and its influence on the increase of joint projects with EECA Region.

  • 2.2 Study Visit "Youth work development in Moldova" 20th - 25th October 2005.

During the Study Visit representatives of youth organisations from Programme countries as well as some National Agencies of the YOUTH programme visited youth organisations with different background and met with local authorities responsible for youth matters in several Regions of Moldova, including Gagauzia and Transnistria.
Study Visit gave participant practical experience how in reality implementation of the youth project in Moldova can look and what are challenges and obstacle of cooperation with organisations from Moldova.

  • 2.3 Annual Meeting of the Network of EECA Multipliers in Kyiv 24th - 31st January 2006

During first annual meeting of the Multipliers in Kyiv, the Network has been extended and nowadays includes 25 Multipliers from all 7 Eastern European and Caucasian countries.

youthNET/CIS project

  • 2.4 youthNET Contact Making Seminar "Human Rights Education" for YNGOs, November 21st -27th 2005 in Kyiv Ukraine

The main goals of the seminar was to initiate long term cooperation between youth organisations from EU - countries/EFTA -countries and from Belarus, the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the topic of "Human Rights Education", to exchange information about the status quo of youth work in the respective countries and to inform about possibilities of cooperation within the YOUTH Programme of the European Union.

  • 2.5 Ukrainian Youth Forum "Ukrainian Youth Aspires Towards Europe" November 24th, Kyiv, Ukraine

Youth NGOs from all parts of Ukraine were given the opportunity to present their projects to a public of 150 international guests. A project fair was used as a platform for exchange of information and partner finding for international youth projects.

4. CALLS for PARTICIPANTS & TRAINERS

4.1 Call for participants of the Contact Making Seminar "Yth 2" which will take place in Poland, 1-6 April, 2006.

"Yth 2" is aimed at establishing new partnership between youth organisations from EECA and the Programme countries interested in organising European Voluntary Service (Action 2). You can submit your application by the 28h February, more info www.salto-youth.net/cmsyth2pol/

4.2 Call for participants of the Eastern Express TC/CMS, which will take place in Turkey, 11-17 May 2006.

"The EASTERN EXPRESS TC is aimed to enhance and to support the cooperation in the field of youth exchanges between organisations from EECA and Programme countries. In addition wants to stimulate the creation of new partnerships and project ideas within Action 1- Youth Exchanges. More info www.salto-youth.net/eetc2006/

5. Calls for CONTRIBUTION

5.1 Call for contribution to the SALTO EECA YOUTH Magazine

SALTO EECA RC is going to publish Annual Magazine "EECA YOUTH" which will include examples of already realised projects, articles written by Beneficiaries, both from Programme and EECA countries, outlook on SALTO EECA activities.
We believe that our Magazine will increase visibility of the co-operation with EECA countries at the European level and will support dissemination of its reach achievements.
Thanks to the Magazine SALTO EECA would like to share best practices amongst target group of the YOUTH programme and encourage new organisations to start cooperation with EECA countries.
Topic of the fist issue will be "ACTIVE PARTCIPATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE" in context of the YOUTH programme
Therefore we would warmly welcome:
- Articles of project organisers, who would like to share best practices from projects carried out by them;
- Reports from interested projects;
- Theoretical input concerning ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in Eastern Europe and Caucasus
- Points of view of policy makers
- Other interesting suggestions, which could increase usefulness of our Magazine

6. EECA Contact List

6.1 EECA Contact List

SALTO-YOUTH Eastern Europe and Caucasus Resource Centre (SALTO-YOUTH EECA RC) has launched a new website called Contact List for organisations, which are interested in International Co-operation between Programme Countries and Partner Countries of Eastern Europe and Caucasus within the YOUTH Programme.
Our information tool is composed of three sections:
- Search - this section enables visitors to search an organization already included in the Contact List and looking for partners
- Add new - this section allows visitors to add their own organization to the Contact List
- Contact - this section contains contact data of SALTO-YOUTH EECA RC
We strongly encourage you to sign up to the Contact List and find your partners to the new projects!
