PAID Internship*– Advocacy Program Coordinator
38 hours per week
Estimated starting date: July 2007
Minimum 1 year

Topics of focus:
UNOY Peacebuilders has advocated for the International Decade for a
Culture of Peace at the UN head office in New York, the EU in
Brussels and with national governments through its members. UNOY
Peacebuilders specifically focuses on advocating for youth to have
their say and practice their right to be heard and participate in all
levels of decision making and implementation especially in the field
of peacebuilding issues.
For 2007 and 2008 UNOY Peacebuilders also coordinates the campaign of
its members for the implementations of the recommendations coming
from the United Nations Study on Violence against Children.

Role and tasks
COORDINATION & COMMUNICATION
• Oversee all advocacy activities and plan new activities
• Manage advocacy program
• Communicate with members and others interested in our network
on advocacy program
• Moderate e-group(s)
PROJECT MANEGEMENT
• Write project proposals in collaboration with other members
of the advocacy team.
• Identify small foundations and donors
• Assist in projects implementation
• Projects Report writing
GUIDANCE OF HUMAN RESOURCES
• Supervise and support interns in advocacy team
• Assist in other administrative tasks if needed
Requirements
• Educational background or/and relevant experience in the
field of advocacy & campaigning is essential
• Educational background or/and relevant experience in peace-
building, youth work, communication and project management will be a
plus.
• Leadership, planning, project writing and intercultural
communication skills
• Experience in management of projects
• Computer and data-base skills, preferably knowledge of ACCESS.
• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Dutch, French, Spanish, and/ or Russian will be a
plus.
• Enthusiasm and commitment
• Age between 20 and 30.
*Internship allowance will be decided according to experience and
qualifications.
Unpaid Internship: Coordinator African Network
Minimum 16-24 hours a week
Starting 1 August 2007, minimum five months
Deadline: 1 July
Tasks
Develop, coordinate and lead UNOY Peacebuilders activities in Africa.
Organise training seminars and conferences for youth leaders in
Africa.
Ensure that the communication flows among members is dynamic and
effective.
Support our African members in the implementation of their projects
and link them up to the Peace It Together Campaign.
Moderate e-groups
Requirements
Relevant experience in the field of peace-building / youth work in
Africa
Last years or degree in Higher education and/or post-graduate studies
(preferred)
Leadership, planning, project writing and intercultural communication
skills (preferred)
Computer skills
Fluency in English and high level of French is a plus.
Enthusiasm and commitment
Flexibility and capability to work independently and in a team
Age between 20 and 29
Unpaid Internship: Coordinator European Network
Minimum 10-15 hours a week
Starting Mid September 2007, minimum five months
Deadline: 1 July

Support our European members in the implementation of their projects

Fluency in English. Russian, French and/ or Spanish a plus.

Unpaid Internship: Communication and Information Officer
Minimum 20-25 hours a week
Starting: 1 July 2007, minimum 5 months
Deadline: 15 June
Tasks
Ensure good communication with our affiliates and other persons
interested in our network
Manage information desk
Develop and maintain the network's communication tools
Coordinate and assist writing newsletter and weekly digest
Lead and moderate e-groups for our network
Assist in organising trainings and events
Assist in improving website
